Following delays caused by strikes, the 14th Annual Governors Awards 2024 were held in Los Angeles to present the honorary Oscars.

Honorary Oscars were presented to Angela Bassett, Mel Brooks, and Carol Littleton, while Michelle Satter was acknowledged with the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award at the event.

Renowned actor Angela Bassett was honored for her outstanding contributions throughout her career, spanning iconic roles such as Tina Turner and the queen of Wakanda, during Hollywood’s film academy’s presentation of honorary Oscars on Tuesday.

In the same event, comedian Mel Brooks was also bestowed with a golden statuette in the presence of a distinguished audience, including top stars like Leonardo DiCaprio, Bradley Cooper, and Natalie Portman.

The selection of Bassett and the other honorees was made by the board of governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, the same group responsible for presenting this year’s Oscars scheduled for March.

While accepting her award on stage, Bassett took a moment to acknowledge the achievements of the 10 Black women who have previously received Academy Awards, individually naming each one. She expressed her hope that the film industry would continue to create more opportunities for people of color.

Margot Robbie and Emily Blunt showcased similar stylish elegance at the 14th Governors Awards on Tuesday!

Breaking away from her usual Barbie-inspired fashion, the 33-year-old Robbie opted for a departure with a long black gown featuring a silver-embellished plunging neckline and two waist cutouts. She complemented her red carpet ensemble with Kwiat jewels and a pair of Fred Leighton 1950s diamond and platinum waterfall earrings.

On the other hand, Blunt donned a gold metallic dress with dazzling Tiffany & Co. jewels intricately woven into her hair. Her sleeveless deep V-neck gown from Miu Miu featured a glittery silver design at its center, perfectly paired with matching Tiffany jewels.

While both actresses shared a similar hairstyle with their hair tucked behind their ears, Blunt’s light brown locks were parted to one side, adorned with loose waves. The Oppenheimer star completed her look with light blush and pink lips.

She participated in the Governors Awards to endorse her single, “Can’t Catch Me Now“, featured on “The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes” soundtrack. This song has made it to the Oscars shortlist.

Olivia Rodrigo also expressed her desire to collaborate with Noah Kahan, a Grammy-nominated best new artist. She commended his talent, finding him inspiring, and optimistically added, “One of these days,” while crossing her fingers.
